CAST OFF!!!!! 5-26-10

Today, Wednesday, 5-26-10, at 2:15 p.m., I went to the Doc and got the cast off!! I have been in that thing since March 8. Scroll down and see the final cast pictures and REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK THE PICTURE.
The nurse fires up the saw and begins removing the cast.

After cutting the inside portion, she has me turn to the left so she can get the outside done.

The cast is off and here is the foot. Healed up pretty good. The inside

The outside. This incision site had healed up a lot better that the inside did.

The Doc said the small area, where the wound didn't quite heal yet, was no problem and it would heal later on.

Here I am, waiting for the Doc to come into the cast room. I am hopeful that he will put me in a "walking boot" and not another cast.

Here is Janice, who is more hopeful than I that the Doc doesn't put on another cast. I guess I haven't been the greatest person to be around since the cast was put on March 8th.

Here is the X-ray from the inside.

Here is the X-ray from the top

An X-ray with the foot tilted inward

The X-rays are now read on the computer. I remember when they would bring the X-rays into the room and put them on that lighted screen and read them from there.

The X-rayed foot. The Doc says he will check the foot again on July 7th. If all is well, then he will cut me loose and I will be on the bike & in the wind again!!!

Here is my full weight bearing walking boot. Doc says he will check the toes in 9 months to a year and if they aren't straightened out, then he will go in and break, pin & plate them. But he didn't appear to be concerned about it..
This will conclude this post. Thank you all, from around this Earth, for your support & prayers during this time. I really appreciated it and it helped me keep from getting cabin fever. Well, for the most part, anyway.. lol
Please scroll down for more rides, events & runs and remember to click on the OLD POSTS link at the bottom of EACH page for more of the same.

Remember to pray for our troops, both in and out of harm's way, especially Pattie (Korea) and my niece Steffanie (in the Iraq/Afghanistan theatre)
Also if you would pray for Lance & his wife, Pattie. Both were injured in a motorcycle accident (rear tire blew out on his Harley) down in Abilene Texas. Pattie was released from the hospital with cuts, bumps & bruises. Lance is still in the hospital and had surgery on his broken right shoulder today. Your prayers will be greatly appreciated by Lance & Pattie and all of us who ride with & love this couple.
Until the next post, ya'll be careful out there, keep the rubber on the road, your head on a 360 degree swivel and MOST important of all: RIDE SAFE.............................JOHN
