RIDE TO GRAHAM TEXAS WITH RUSS 11-24-09

Last night (Monday 11-23-09) Russ called and asked if I wanted to make a run with him down to Graham Texas, which is about 65 miles South of here. I said I sure would and he said to meet him at his house in the morning (Tuesday 11-24-09). Scroll down and joined us on the short but great ride and REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE.

Russ comes out, gets geared up and we head out. The temp was 43 degrees, the wind out of the NW at 10-15 mph and not a cloud in the sky in any direction. A great day for a ride with one of my best friends. Here is Russ on "THE ICEMAN"...

Looking South down US 281, we have clear skies & a clear road ahead...

Russ doing the "Hook 'em Horns" thing as we roll South.

Russ on "THE ICEMAN" rolling South on US 281. Russ calls his Harley that because the paint job on it is called "Black Ice". Depending on the light conditions, the bottom half of the Harley is either blue or purple. The top half remains black. If in a very low light, the entire bike is black. A very good looking motorcycle..

THE ICEMAN & SO parked on the side of TX 16, down in Graham Texas. We had stopped so Russ could look at this 25' trailer that was for sale.

As we get ready to leave, Russ puts his gel seat cover back on the bike. The wind had blown it off while we were looking at the trailer. I have one of those gel covers but I forgot to put it on before I left this morning. We left here and rode into Graham & ate at Sanderson's Restaurant. When we left there. we headed to Windthorst Texas. Check this link for more on Sanderson's: http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-18914484R-sanderson_restaurant-i

As we head down TX 16, we prepare to top a small hill. Russ in front of me.

Russ, as we head down TX 16. Most of the leaves are off the trees, but a few remain..

Russ's wife, Linda, wanted Russ to check at the meat market in Windthorst Texas for some buffalo meat. They didn't have any but the butcher told Russ he could get all he wanted in Bowie Texas. Windthorst Texas is a dairy & cattle town.

THE ICEMAN & SO in Windthorst Texas

Me & SO doing the Captain Morgan thing in Windthorst Texas. Guess I just blew my chance at playing professional football by striking this pose... LOL

Russ & THE ICEMAN doing the Captain Morgan pose. He just blew his chances too. The NFL just lost a bunch of talent!!! Oh well, guess we will just have to keep riding the highways & byways....

As we roll North on US 281 back to Wichita Falls Texas, Russ appears to be stuck in his Captain Morgan pose...

I had talked to Janice on the phone before Russ & I left Graham Texas & she wanted me to stop by McDonald's, when we got back to town and bring her some lunch. Russ & I parted company out at US281 & Southwest Parkway. He went to gas up & go home and I went downtown to get Janice some lunch.

I enjoyed the ride with Russ today and thank you for inviting me to go with ya Russ. I needed it!! I look forward to our next ride whenever it occurs & where ever it takes us.

Ya'll
have a Happy & Safe Thanksgiving and enjoy the time with whomever you spent the day with.

Back to Jim's Bike Detail Shop 11-23-09

Sunday, 11-22-09, my daughter Amanda came over to visit and I had just returned from gassing up the Harley and she wanted to go for a ride. We set out for Iowa Park Texas to see my other daughter, Amy, and we stopped at Jim's Bike Detail Shop down on the corner to say hi to Jim. While talking, Jim went and got an extra leather vest for Amanda to borrow & wear for the ride. Today, Monday, 11-23-09, I rode the bike back down to Jim's to return the vest. Scroll down for this short post & REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE.

This is Jim's Bike Detail Shop 5400 Southwest Parkway Wichita Falls Texas 76310 phone: 940-691-1121 (on the corner of Southwest Parkway & Barnett Rd, across from the stadium). Jim does bike washing & detailing, oil changes, State inspections (Bike & car), bike cable checks and he sells bikes on consignment. If you're in the area and need his expertise, give him a call and hook up with him. He will treat you right...

Here is Jim & Tammy out by my Harley. The vest Jim loaned Amanda, was one of Tammy's. Tammy rides a Harley Screamin' Eagle Softail Custom (I believe) and is also an RN. She was just finishing up lunch & heading back to work.

Jim & Tammy at Jim's Bike Detail Shop in Wichita Falls Texas. Tammy helps Jim out around the shop with some cleaning, scheduling, phone calls & secretarial stuff. They are both great people and I am proud to have them as friends.

This is one of Jim's restoration projects. This is his 1973 Corvette Stingray.

This is the emblem on the hood. Been inside awhile and is dusty. But not to worry. When Jim finishes restoring it, it will be detailed. It looks great now though...

Drivers side

The "Stingray" Emblem on the left front quarter panel

Another view of the Stingray emblem

Been sitting since 1999, as these tags & inspection sticker can attest to..As well as the TSTA sticker..

The back view.

The emblem on the gas cap on the trunk of the Corvette. Jim started it up and it has got to be one of the quietest, smooth running 'Vettes I've heard. Purrs like a kitten... When he is done restoring it, he is thinking about selling it at a price which I found to be, unbelievably low. Something in the vicinity of 8 grand. If you are interested or have a question about the Corvette, call or go down to Jim's and see it & talk to Jim.. He can give ya the history on it.

Some of the bikes Jim was working on, were out front. This is an 04 Harley Fat Boy. Jim said the owner was going to trailer it to Florida, when Jim finished with it, along with an 07 Harley Ultra..

This is the 07 Harley Ultra Classic that was going to Florida with the Fat Boy. Jim says this bike only has 7,800 miles on it.. Jim's got his work cut out for him on this one. The owner lives down a dirt road and this bike was covered in dirt & dust..

This is an 08 Kawasaki crotch rocket that Jim is selling on consignment. It sure is a clean bike..

This is Jim's 07 Harley Road Glide. A great looking and running bike. I have been on several rides with Jim and his Harley is a strong running bike.

This is Jim's 1988 Shovelhead. It used to be a police bike and Jim has it for sale also.. Call Jim for the details on it, the Kawasaki & Corvette. 940-691-1121

My 01 Harley Heritage Softail Classic. I bring it down to Jim's for visitation. Jim was the one who told me about it and sold it to me. I love this bike!!
This will conclude this post. Thank you, Jim & Tammy, for letting Amanda borrow the vest yesterday. Kept the cold off her. Good luck selling the bikes & Vette Jim.. They are gonna go fast, I'm sure.

REDNECK CHRISTMAS 11-22-09

The following photo is used with permission from my friend, Larry, who has this photo posted on his Face Book page. He was sent this in an email. This is too funny not to post. So, here it is. To all my PETA friends (People Eating Tasty Animals) and fellow/fellowette bikers. REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE.

Ya'll have a Merry Redneck Christmas... Now, where's Prancer?

Thanks Larry for permission to use this. I needed the laugh. For those of you who don't have a sense of humor, lighten up or we may find Thumper next.. LOL

LARRY PICKS UP "SCOOTER" IN HENRIETTA TEXAS 11-21-09

Today, Saturday, 11-21-09, Larry invited me to ride with him from Wichita Falls Texas down to Four Stars Motorcycle Ranch in Henrietta Texas so he could pick up his Harley Screamin' Eagle Road Glide that Four Stars had serviced for him. Larry was using Sissy's Harley Road King, which is for sale, and he would ride that back to Four Stars, where Sissy works. Having been off my bike since 11-5-09, by doctor's orders, I went AMA (against medical advice), and rode my Harley with Larry on the short 22 mile trip South. Scroll down & join us on this quick ride and REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE.

I rode over to Larry's house to meet Larry. He came out wearing a T-shirt & down filled vest. It was overcast and a wet feeling 50 degrees out and I told him he was gonna freeze his butt off. Here is Larry and Sissy's 05 Harley-Davidson Road King, which is for sale.

Larry took this picture of me & my bike before we headed out. I was wearing my leather jacket & gauntlets and it was still nippy to me...

We head out and are North bound on Henry S. Grace Freeway in Wichita Falls Texas. Here is Larry rolling North

Another of Larry rolling North on Henry S. Grace Freeway

We get to Four Stars Motorcycle Ranch in Henrietta Texas. This is Sissy's bike which she has for sale. This is an 05 Harley Davidson Road King. It is pearl yellow with lime green metal flake & pin striping. It has an Arlen Ness Big Sucker (air breather) and fuel pack.

Sissy on her Road King. It has cruise control, MP3 speakers & new tires. Sissy hooked up her MP3 player to the speakers and cranked up the volume. There was no distortion whatsoever from those speakers & they sounded great!

It has a Harley Davidson factory rebuilt (Milwaukee) 88 cu in engine with only 2,000 miles on it and has a one year unlimited mileage warranty still in effect.

The back view of the Road King

Sissy showing some of the finer points of the Road King to some folks that were looking at the bikes at the dealership today. That is Crazy Mike, directly across from Sissy, closest to the bike.

Some of the extra chrome on the Road King.

The pipes & emblem on the back fender.

The Road King has True Duals Vance & Hines Logshot pipes, black in color. Here is the Vance & Hines logo on the pipes. This bike has only 41,000 miles and Sissy is asking $13,000 but I bet if you talked to her really nice & bought her a coke, she would probably take a little less. If you have a serious inquiry about this outstanding motorcycle, give Sissy a call today at 940-704-9647. It is one heck of a deal on one great looking & riding Harley Davidson.. Put yourself on this bike today and join the Harley Davidson family!!!

While I was talking to Sissy about the Road King, Larry was inside taking care of the paperwork and getting his bike ready to go. This is "Scooter", Larry's Harley Screamin' Eagle Road Glide. I gave Larry his nickname, due to "Scooter". Larry is now Larry A.K.A. Scooter Boy... LOL

Larry & I inside Four Stars Motorcycle Ranch, warming up for the ride back to Wichita Falls. We had run into mist about 2 miles from Four Stars.

Me & Sissy in Four Stars Motorcycle Ranch. For more on Four Stars Motorcycle Ranch, see this link & click on motorcycles: http://www.fourstarsautoranch.com/

Larry had to borrow a jacket for the ride home. Here is Sissy & Larry with a vintage RED RIVER HARLEY DAVIDSON jacket from when RRHD was located in Iowa Park Texas. RRHD is now located in Wichita Falls Texas

This is Sissy & Larry in Sissy's old office. Sissy's new office is located out in the show room, motor clothes area.

Larry reclaims "Scooter" and here is Sissy & Larry prior to our departure back to Wichita Falls Texas.

Crazy Mike & me at Four Stars Motorcycle Ranch in Henrietta Texas. I was talking to Mike & found out he is Matt's (my son) next door neighbor. Small world eh? He has a Windshield bag that I am gonna buy from him for my Harley

Larry & Scooter as we head North up US 287

Larry as we proceed North up US 287. This will conclude this post. I enjoyed the brief ride today and really needed it.. I enjoyed seeing Larry, Sissy & Charlie today and meeting Crazy Mike. I had seen Mike's Harley at his house when I visited Matt but had not seen Mike. I look forward to riding with Mike and the others whenever the next ride occurs and where ever it takes us.
