Blue Knights TX XX Chapter Ride 10-11-09

Today, 10-11-09, was the Blue Knights TX XX monthly Chapter ride. The weather was misty and a 42 degree wind chill. With the dampness, it made it seem a lot colder. We were originally scheduled to go to the Hard Eight BBQ Pit, in Stephenville Texas, about 125 miles South of here. However, when we got to Jacksboro Texas (just short of half way) the mist turned into a drizzle. We then opted to eat at the Green Frog Restaurant in Jacksboro Texas and then head back home to Wichita Falls Texas. Scroll down and see who showed up and REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE..

Vickie, Rodney's wife, showed up on her Harley wearing her Lady Knights vest. Rodney has had the flu all week and didn't make it. Rodney is one of the Blue Knights TX XX Road Captains.

The back of Vickie's vest. A couple months ago, Vickie talked to the Chapter about the Lady Knights and showed them the colors.

Bud & Dennis. Dennis owns "C Me Shine" Motorcycle Accent Lighting Installation & Service, and Bud is getting lights put on his bike and is dropping his bike off at Dennis's this Thursday for the installation. If you're interested in accent lighting for your bike, contact Dennis at: DPatte6268@aol.com or give him a call at: 940-782-6312.

Amy & Kyle arrive. Kyle is Vice President of the Blue Knights TX XX and today's Road Captain.

Today's riders are: left to right: Moe & Dennis, Bud, Amy & Kyle and Vickie

Left to right: Moe & Dennis, me, Amy & Kyle and Vickie. There were also two other rides going today. One was to Rhineland Texas for the Sausage feed there and a ride going to Muenster Texas to a German Restaurant. So, a lot of our usual riders didn't make it. Our Chapter members..Well, some were sick, some were out of town and some just didn't show up for whatever reason. But we that did, had a great time...

Dennis & Moe are in front of me as we pull out and head South down US 281

As we head South on US 281, you can see the road getting a little wet from the mist.. Our staggered formation is: Kyle (Road Captain), Amy, Vickie, Bud, Dennis & Moe and I was bringing up the rear..

The group as we continue South on US 281. We were still planning on going to Stephenville Texas at this time..

Amy was a little chilled as we continued South

Kyle was having a great time, as usual, as we continued South down US 281

We stopped here at the Shell Station in Jacksboro Texas for a break and it started drizzling. Here are the bikes in front of the gas station

Here is Vickie. Can you tell how thrilled she was to be chilled to the bone and a little damp from the drizzle?

This is Moe with her free hunting trip that was given to her by a guide there in Jacksboro Texas. Moe is an avid hunter and is an excellent shot with a bow or rifle...

We decided at this point, since the bikes were wet and the road was wet, just to eat at the Green Frog there in Jacksboro Texas. We still has about 75 miles to go to Stephenville and it looked dark down to the South and we didn't want to risk a possible mishap by riding into heavier rain.

We get to the Green Frog Restaurant and the waitress takes the orders. She has Dennis on the right and Bud on the left. For more on the Green Frog Restaurant, see the following link: http://www.yellowpages.com/info-4565298/Green-Frog-Restaurant/maps?from=qpibp-nonmi

Two happy girls now that we are out of the wet weather and cold temps..Vickie & Amy are enjoying this!

One of the Green Frog Coffee cups. I bought Janice one and took it home to her. They sell these things for only $5.

We finish eating and head out to the bikes to head home to Wichita Falls Texas, about 55 miles North..

Bud getting ready. We all dressed for the weather. Yesterday, Bud & I rode to Vernon Texas and I didn't dress for it & I got cold.. Today, learning from yesterday, I wore boots, thermals, levi's, chaps, shirt, sweatshirt, leather jacket & leather vest. I also opted for the face mask, 3/4 helmet and face shield with a pair of snow mobile gloves..I was warm going and returning...

Vickie getting geared up

Amy works on getting a little something out of her eye. With the drizzle, she didn't need anything else to distract her from seeing the road...

Same formation as we head back North on US 281

Heading back, we ran into a little heavier drizzle and this is the view thru my windshield

We broke out of the drizzle for a little while as we continued home

The final pic of today's ride is as we are just outside of Wichita Falls Texas and we run into more drizzle..All in all, it was a good ride and we had a great time..We even got back in time to see the Dallas Cowboys beat the Kansas City Chiefs in overime.
I look forward to our next ride and I am happy to be riding again. Now, if I can sell Ms. Clone, I can get my Harley and enjoy the rides even more...
